In brotherly graves beneath a foreign sky, sleeping beneath the crosses they lie.
Father, lover, brother and son were they, but have no grave among the family.
Not just fading photographs on Granny's wall, names on a board in the local hall,
Or on monuments raised by community sorrow. For our today they gave their tomorrow.
We strive to keep their memory bright, and to do them honour as is their right.
With gratitude gladly do we pay our debt, in sorrow and joy, we do not forget.
