Centennial celebration, Darfield Primary School.

Greetings from the Chairman.

It is with pleasure I welcome you all here to these Centennial Celebrations of the Darfield Primary School and the Reunion of Charing Cross and Kimberley Schools. It is a time for gathering together with old friends to reminisce of times gone by and to mark a place in the history of the School.

To my Committee a grateful thanks for their help and encouragement. Without their enthusiasm and inspiration, my job would not have been easy.
To all who are attending, our thanks. Without you this weekend would not have been possible. A good wish to you all, and a safe journey home.

DARFIELD -The Darfield Primary School was completed in 1883 and opened on 19th February of that year under the control of A.C. Augur M.A. The attendance on the first day was nine girls and nine boys.

The school has been supported over the years by an active committee and keen staff. The children have benefited from all the things needed for a stimulating school environment. Such things as a travelling library in the early days, to the wonderful asset in the permanent one at the school today A well serviced Dental Clinic. Agriculture as a club has been enjoyed on and off. Bible teaching will be remembered by young and old alike. Along with the usual amenities expected in schools today the present day pupils, and these to come, should look forward to another century of rewarding days at the school.
